Genevieve Matucha was known for her finger-painted watercolors. She gained some notoriety in the late 1940s and the 1950s. Appealing to modern homeowners, her work became the aquarium, bird, or plant in the modern home. Her studio was in Hollywood on Highland Ave.

Although her work was primarily seen as decorative, this piece holds its own. Its fluid, slightly magical movement, and scale make it the best aquarium above your sofa or credenza.
